What we offer
Archival research into your ancestors, delivered as a family tree, a family chronicle, or both, and gift certificates for these services. The standard scope is five generations of direct ancestors including the starting person, as far as the records survive. Prices on the website are starting prices; the binding price is the one in the proposal prepared for you.
How a contract is made
Sending an enquiry is not an order. We assess it and send you a proposal with the scope, price and expected delivery date. A proposal is valid for 14 days. The contract is made when you confirm the proposal on its payment page and pay.
Price and payment
Prices are final; we are not registered for VAT. Payment is made in advance by card through the secure Stripe gateway, or with a gift certificate. We email you a receipt.
What research can and cannot promise
We search the records that survive and are accessible, so the result cannot be guaranteed in advance: neither a number of generations nor finding a particular person. We search within the agreed scope and cite the source of every fact. When something is not found, we show what was searched and how far. Deeper research is assessed and quoted individually.
Delivery
The delivery date is stated in the proposal. The online book and print files are available on your private page. A printed book or tree is delivered by the method and at the price stated in the proposal.
Withdrawal
As a consumer you may withdraw from the contract without giving a reason within 14 days of making it. If you ask us to start the research within that period and then withdraw, you pay a proportionate part of the price for the work done until then. Once the service has been fully performed at your request, the right to withdraw ends. A printed book or tree is made to your specification, so its purchase cannot be withdrawn from. You may withdraw from buying a gift certificate within 14 days of payment; an unused certificate is refunded in full. Withdraw with the button on the order's payment page or by email to info@rodokniha.cz. We refund within 14 days, by the same method you paid.
Gift certificates
A certificate is valid for two years from payment. The recipient enters its code in their enquiry; it is applied to the price of the proposal, and any unused balance stays on the certificate until it expires. A certificate cannot be exchanged for cash.
Complaints
If the result has a defect, tell us at info@rodokniha.cz what is wrong. We handle complaints without undue delay and within 30 days at the latest. A wrong fact is corrected and a new version of the book issued.
Disputes
A consumer dispute we cannot settle together may be taken to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority for out-of-court resolution (adr.coi.cz). The contract is governed by Czech law.
