The Minář family

Josef and Anna
Josef Minář was born on 6 March 1863 in Novosedly nad Nežárkou, at house number twenty. His father Jakub farmed at the same address. Josef’s mother Rosina came from the Štěpka family at house number fifteen in Novosedly.
Jakub was the son of Tomáš Minář and Kateřina. Rosina’s father Matěj Štěpka was also a farmer; her mother Anna was the daughter of Vojtěch Šťastný of house number two. These family connections lead to several homes in the same village.
On 23 November 1886, Josef married Anna Bažilová. Anna was born on 8 June 1868 in Novosedly, at house number sixteen. Her father was Josef Bažil and her mother Rosina Píchová, whose family came from Val.
Josef and Anna had four children. The eldest, Josef, was born in January 1894, and František two years later. Václav was born on 23 September 1898. The youngest, Marie, was born on 9 October 1901.
Josef died on 8 May 1901, before Marie was born. He was thirty-eight. Václav was then two years and seven months old. Widowed at thirty-two, Anna continued farming at house number twenty.

Jakub and Rosina
Before Josef’s family, his parents’ generation lived at house number twenty. Based on the age recorded at his death, Jakub Minář was born around 1818–1819. Like his father Tomáš, he was a farmer in Novosedly.
His wife appears in the records under two forms of her first name: Rosina and Rosalie. She was born around 1833–1834, the daughter of Matěj Štěpka of house number fifteen and Anna of the Šťastný family.
Jakub and Rosina lost two children. Jan died on 22 February 1872, and Tomáš on 15 March 1874. Both death records name house number twenty.
Jakub died on 21 February 1877, aged fifty-eight, and was buried two days later. Josef, who would become Václav’s father, had not yet turned fourteen.
Rosina outlived her husband by eighteen years. Her own death record gives her name as Rosalie and describes her as a retired farmer living at number twenty. She died on 8 February 1895, aged sixty-one.
