Do I need all my grandparents’ details?
We can start with a person whose name, approximate year and place you know. Birth, marriage and death certificates, photographs, letters, house numbers and other family materials can provide further starting points.
What if I only know the American branch?
Start with a surname, birth or immigration year and a U.S. city or state. We use U.S. records to look for a Czech birthplace.
How far back can research go?
For many Czech families, parish registers lead back to the 17th century. The scope depends on the place, period and surviving records. Land and property registers, manorial surveys, population lists, military records and other archival collections may provide further information.
What determines the research scope?
Before we begin, we check the starting details, available records and family branches. We use these to prepare a specific scope, price and delivery date for your Rodokniha.
Can every family branch reach equally far back?
Records survive differently for each family branch. Your Rodokniha follows each branch according to the available historical records.
